Orin is a humanoid changeling who was raised believing she was born from the god Bhaal. In reality, she was born from a terrible relationship between her mother, Helena Anchev, and her grandfather, Sarevok Anchev. Both her and her mother were treated horribly by their grandfather, but they both still worshipped him, and Orin later received training and became the youngest Bhaal assassin in history, a high position within the cult hierarchy. Eventually she became Bhaal’s chosen, as he was impressed by her work. Sarevok, knowing that Helena wanted to be Bhaal’s chosen, told her that Bhaal would only make her his chosen if Helena killed Orin. This failed as Orin was able to overpower her mother. Afterwards, Bhaal told Sarevok to watch and nurture this child to become his chosen.
When Orin grew older, she served Bhaal as second in command to the Durge, a player character depending on what origin the player chooses in character creation. Orin and the Durge often argued about the best way to make sacrifices to Bhaal, with Orin believing that it was supposed to be an art, and the Durge understanding that Bhaal only cared about quantity of sacrifices, not quality. Eventually, the Durge would join an alliance with Enver Gortash and Ketheric Thorm to steal a netherese crown from hell and implant it on an Elder Brain below Moonrise Tower. Orin was also included within this plan, and seeing the opportunity, drove a knife into the Durge’s head and implanting a mind flayer parasite within their brain. Orin took the Durge’s place in the trio, but was very undisciplined and her bloodlust caused the others to find her a necessary annoyance. Eventually, the player will find Orin in the sewers of Baldurs Gate, and that is where she meets her end.
